Recently, when serving as chaplain on the beautiful island of Bardsey off the Welsh North coast I was mesmerised by the colours of the island!
It was as if I had put on a new pair of spectacles! Colours seemed to pop out and engulf me like never before.
This painting seeks to capture the Naples yellow that seems to hug the island most summer evenings (well, apart from when it's grey!) I also tried to capture the thin space that is so often used to describe the island. It's a term used to describe the gap between heaven and earth that is paper thin.
You can see a film of an exhibition I put on for the island here:
This painting measures 82 by 82cm and is painted on a thin edge beauty of a canvas.
