It was a chance handing of wool from one of the guests at the island that sparked the painting of this scene of the line of the mountain on Bardsey using inks and wool.
Chaplaincy on Bardsey this year was a mix of joy and sadness. There was an accident in the island before I arrived and tragically a man lost his life. It happened in a moment.
The paintings I produced reflected the fragility of life represented by grasses and flowers in the field, but also reveal the energy and colour of the island that always brings me close to God as I see His beauty in creation.
This painting has a chance texture and look to it from the wool, there are some individual strands of wool still on the painting which adds to the unusual but effective look.
It's painted using acrylic inks, pen and spray paints.
You can see a film of all the paintings I produced this year here:
This painting measures 18" x 14" (460mm x 354mm) and is painted on a thin brown textured canvas board.
