The first in a series of 3 paintings inspired by Psalm 27. Verse 1 declares:
Verse 1: The Lord is my light and my salvation—
whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life—
of whom shall I be afraid?
I wanted to show light. This painting is layered and layered with light and is quite thick in places with paint and texture!
I used new techniques in creating this painting, scrapping and sanding layers of paint to reveal more and more light.
The hero of this painting is light. There’s lots of it and it cascades down over the mountain to where a small boat departs the safety of the shore onto an adventure of seeking the light.
I chose 3 verses to meditate on and paint. This one and:
Verse 5:
For in the day of trouble
he will keep me safe in his dwelling;
he will hide me in the shelter of his sacred tent
and set me high upon a rock.
Verse 14:
Wait for the Lord;
be strong and take heart
and wait for the Lord.
