The last in a series of 3 paintings inspired by Psalm 27. Verse 14 declares:
Wait for the Lord;
be strong and take heart
and wait for the Lord.
I wanted to capture the waiting and longing for God in this picture. The stretching of arms is overemphasised to show the yearning and heartfelt response to ‘take heart’ to be courageous and strong.
I chose 3 verses to meditate on and paint. This one and:
Verse 1: The Lord is my light and my salvation—
whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life—
of whom shall I be afraid?
Verse 5: For in the day of trouble
he will keep me safe in his dwelling;
he will hide me in the shelter of his sacred tent
and set me high upon a rock.
