Walking Into The Light was created after the most unusual evening of light shining upon the whole island. The Naples Light mixed with the greens of the island created this strange florescent colour and feel. The track down from the chapel was half bathed in the low light of the evening.
I tried to capture the colours but it was more how I felt that I captured. I had just been to collect some candles from the chapel and they were in my pocket as I walked down immersed in the light.
Chaplaincy on Bardsey this year was a mix of joy and sadness. There was an accident in the island before I arrived and tragically a man lost his life. It happened in a moment.
The paintings I produced reflected the fragility of life represented by grasses and flowers in the field, but also reveal the energy and colour of the island that always brings me close to God as I see His beauty in creation.
It's painted using acrylic inks, pen and spray paints.
