Our village of Great Gransden has recently had its windmill restored and its sails put back in place after a few years.
Wow, they make a difference! Before it was an odd shaped mill on a post. Now with the sails in place people stop and take pictures and admire it.
It's also quite a poignant image as there is an old legend from the 1860's that when it was a working mill the sales simply stopped turning. No matter what repairs where made to it.
The story goes that a copy of The Infidel's Bible, a black magic book, was accidentally left in the mill and forgotten about. Within days the mill stopped working, and for three years no-one could figure out why. After that time, the book was rediscovered, chucked out of the mill and burnt - almost immediately, the mill started turning once more.
Fable or not, the sails speak to me of the wind of the Spirit flowing through this blessed land that I live in and speak to me of revival and outpouring of the Spirit!
It is printed on a stunning Hahnemühle German Etching and comes mounted on a 2mm board.
