Printed on the super matt finish of Hahnemüle German Etching, this print gives muted blacks with even colour reproduction, and excellent detail.
The surface has minimal texture with a chalky smooth cotton feel which creates smooth colour gradients. It has a delicate surface, so I recommend extra care when handling. Photorag is suitable for mounting but its cotton texture means edges can fray if not carefully handled.
The limited edition print comes signed on the back with The title of the painting too and what limited print number it is too.
----------------------------------------
The second in a series of 3 paintings inspired by Psalm 27. Verse 5 declares:
For in the day of trouble
he will keep me safe in his dwelling;
he will hide me in the shelter of his sacred tent
and set me high upon a rock.
I wanted to show two contrasting promises: 1, being sheltered in the sacred tent of God and 2, being set high upon a rock. The Northern Lights are shown, depicting depth and mystery and afterwards reflecting upon it, they felt like a representation of ‘what is always happening but we need positioning to see it.’ In the same way God’s protection and closeness is always near and over us, but we need eyes to see it!
Feathers feature in this painting and they are symbolic of protection! Why 9 of them? I felt that the fruit of the spirit was symbolised in the 9 feathers, in a place of closeness and hiding in God, the fruit would be evident and seen in our lives.
I chose 3 verses to meditate on and paint. This one and:
Verse 1: The Lord is my light and my salvation—
whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life—
of whom shall I be afraid?
Verse 5: For in the day of trouble
he will keep me safe in his dwelling;
he will hide me in the shelter of his sacred tent
and set me high upon a rock.
