I spent a few days utterly distracted by the grasses in the island. Perhaps it was the sadness on the island I felt and looking at the beauty and detail of the grasses brought about a sense of healthy distraction.
Chaplaincy on Bardsey this year was a mix of joy and sadness. There was an accident in the island before I arrived and tragically a man lost his life. It happened in a moment.
The paintings I produced reflected the fragility of life represented by grasses and flowers in the field, but also reveal the energy and colour of the island that always brings me close to God as I see His beauty in creation.
This painting is a simple one with the background reflecting fhe vibrancy of the islands colours and then the hand and grasses appeared one early morning as I considered the beauty of the simple grasses. Here today, gone tomorrow.
It's painted using acrylic inks, pen and spray paints.
You can see a film of all the paintings I produced this year here:
This painting measures A3 in size and is painted on a thin canvas board and can be provided in a simple frame for an extra £25, let me know if you would like an A3 Frame too.
