This painting is inspired by a walk up a mountain in Snowdonia exploring the disused skate quarries and climbing up to see the layers upon layers of mountains and hills unfolding beneath us.
The scene has been inspired by a phrase that my wife Ruth said as we walked up the mountain which resonated with me. 'It just takes a walk up to wake up' refers to finding a new context and place to get away from it all and encounter that place of awakening and good perspective.
This painting measures 90cm by 60cm and is painted using acrylic paints, inks and sprays. It is full of texture and deep gashes in the paint representing the paths and texture of the mountain scene.
