Chaplaincy on Bardsey this year was a mix of joy and sadness. There was an accident in the island before I arrived and tragically a man lost his life. It happened in a moment.
The paintings I produced reflected the fragility of life represented by grasses and flowers in the field, but also reveal the energy and colour of the island that always brings me close to God as I see His beauty in creation.
This painting captures the colours of the island. The seas often sparkle and become more mirror like than blues and greens and I wanted to capture the beauty of the sea. To emphasis this I've also contrasted the sea with the sepia browns of the land and ruggedness of the rocks and landscape.
It's painted using acrylic inks, pen and spray paints.

This painting measures 18" x 14" (460mm x 354mm) and is painted on a thin brown textured canvas board.
