I have a friend who describes the love of God in such tender and compassionate ways, he speaks of the vulnerability of God and His love for us that he would become a growing fetus and develop in the womb of a teenage unmarried mum, to be born homeless, and then flee persecution and become a migrant in Egypt.
Such was the love of God that he would be born into vulnerability, take on flesh and show us the way back to Father God. I wanted to capture something of this in that old old story.
This painting, 'The time came' is inspired by that verse that declares: 'While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son.' Luke 2.6
This painting seeks to capture that divine moment of just before the birth- the just before when the word become fresh, came from the flesh of Mary into the world to rescue the world.
The painting is created using spray paints and inks, acrylic paint and measures 41cm by 102cm.
