I'm like a big kid when it comes to looking at the grasses that line the footpaths and lanes around my home! I take note, look through them and admire how they grow so tall so quickly. I often harvest the seeds by pulling up from the bottom of the seed head and collating hundreds of seeds in the cup of my hand.
It seems as if they appear by magic overnight, laden with seedheads stretching up to the light and competing for the space and light to grow.
They are full of promise. The heavy generous seedheads will fall when the grasses die and emerge next year as new fresh grasses.
This painting which measures approx 120cm by 50cm is created using acrylic paints, inks, powder paints, spray paint and gold leaf paint.
