I've been reflecting on God being 'my portion' and what that actually means. I wanted to capture that sense of having God as my portion in this painting. So, I've been playing in the studio and working on the presence and moment of receiving the portion.
This is the moment of the Holy Spirit falling upon someone in worship!
The Hebrew word for “portion” has to do with a ration or a part of something divided. The New Living Translation renders the Hebrew word for “portion” as “inheritance” in Psalm 16:5. I like that. I inherit God and am found to be very happy in what I have been given. When a biblical writer says, “God is my portion,” they mean that God is the source of happiness and blessing. They are content with all that the Lord is and provides.
It is painted on a chunky canvas. It's textured and I've used pigments, acrylic paints and spray paints too.
The painting measures approx 50cm by 75cm.
