This painting was originally a first in a series of 3 paintings inspired by Psalm 27. Verse 1 declares:
Verse 1: The Lord is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid?
I wanted to show light. Like God speaking through light shining through! This original painting is layered and layered with light and is quite thick in places with paint and texture!
I used new techniques in creating this painting, scrapping and sanding layers of paint to reveal more and more light.
The hero of this painting is light. There’s lots of it and it cascades down over the mountain to where a small boat departs the safety of the shore onto an adventure of seeking the light.
