I wanted to capture the immediacy of the weather when staying on Bardsey. One day was pure blue, open seas and a vista as far as the eye could see.
The other two paintings in the series capture the closeness of the mist, a grey Friday that seemed to grow greyer throughout the day.
Bardsey (Enlli) is off the Welsh North coast and every time I visit I am mesmerised by the colours of the island!
This painting seeks to capture the grey's and silvers that come when the island is washed with rain and mist. It's the view from where I stayed with some friends up at the North end of the island looking up to the chapel.
Here is a short film about the paintings:
This painting measures approx 65cm by 50cm and is painted on a thin canvas board.
