I'm fascinated by birds that fish! I really enjoy painting them and hours melt away as I do. I get into a zone which is my element. A truly happy place.
These couple of puffins were created on a day off, a lazy afternoon and evening where I had time to paint. I painted this in Lent too, which for me, means no telly! So time to recreate in other ways flow... Reading, painting, walking. Such a joy! So much so it makes me think why don't I do this all year round?
These two puffins, one with a mouthful of fish and the other hungry and intent to get them, reminds me of my last chaplaincy stay on the island of Bardsey. Outside my door were 30 or so small fish, scattered around. The result of a mid air attack and an attempt to steal from one hungry bird to one laden with goodness! Perhaps the result of two puffins fighting?
